Pain is often a result of our movement patterns and habits over time. What we seek to do at OCTSM is to discover the HOW of what a client is doing. HOW are you sitting, walking, standing, running, etc? The HOW is the key to transforming pain, especially recurring or chronic pain. The treatment plan looks at the whole structure of a client vs on an isolated specific area. I believe in educating and empowering the client so they will become an active participant in getting out of their pain. The truth is massage can release muscles and knots and is excellent for acute pain/injuries and maintenance BUT if a client has a recurring injury or source of pain then the effects of the massage treatment will be temporary. This is because if you, as a client, go back to sitting, standing, running, walking in the same movement patterns |
